• This deli is amazing.  My husband and I think there is heroin in these sandwiches because it is impossible to stop eating them and we always want more.  The iced tea is good.  I am from the South, so I know iced tea.  I recommend any of the Joe sandwiches and the mac and cheese.  And if you can't figure out how to get a number and stand in the correct place, you deserve to get yelled at."

  • Whenever I'm in town, I try to stop by this place. It has the best pastrami! My goto was the Pastrami Ruben. I've also had the Turkey Ruben. I'm currently obsessed with the sloppy joes. I've had a Pastrami Joe and also a Pastrami+Turkey Monster Joe. BTW, these are not Manwich-style sloppy joes, these are real sloppy joes (normal deli sandwich: meat + chesse + cole slaw). The slaw is good & fresh w/ a good amount of mayo (hey, it's sloppy...)

One of the things I really like about this deli is that, in addition to the quality ingredients, they make sandwiches with good proportions/balance of ingredients. I hate how people rave about other delis that "pile the meat up real high"; Millburn has it right by having a good amount of meat, but not too much and allows all the other ingredients to get noticed!

Their cuban griller is also pretty good. They also have their own delicious store-brand Iced Tea.

Warning, no seating inside. They have a few tables outside, but they fill up. On the other hand, they're right in front of a park, so there's plenty of space for a picnic."

  • I could go on for days about my favorite place in the world, but I will keep it short. Millburn Deli is literally heaven on earth. Everything they make is touched by an angel, and I look forward to coming back from school just to hit up the deli.

Make sure to try any joe on the board, and for something crazy...get it grilled, worth it.
Gobbler is great, godfather, and griller #8. Get everything,go with alot of friends and be in paradise.

my only con for the place is that the iced tea is not as good as everyone else says...go for the snapple."

  • This deli is the main reason why I would live in Jersey. I grew up in this town and after the hundredth visit to the deli, i still love it as much as i did when i first tried it.

It's always busy, especially around meal times. High school seniors flock here every day during their lunch break. But you'll never have to wait long to order or be served. They are well-prepared for the masses of people. The prices may seem a bit steep for normal sandwiches and I've watched the prices steadily climb over my years there, but these arent normal sandwiches. They run around a sandwich, which is a very good deal for the amount of delicious satisfaction you'll get. I'd pay a day's wage for one of these sandwiches. My parents love this place too.

Definitely try the roast beef sloppy joe and the Godfather. The turkey gobbler is also good. The house-brewed and bottled ice tea is also a good grab.

Even though I don't live in the area anymore, my parents still do. And whenever I visit my parents, I stop by the deli."

  • Everything I can possibly say about the Milburn Deli is more than positive. The "Gobbler" (a Thanksgiving sandwich with turkey, cranberry sauce, and stuffing) should win awards, if it hasn't done so already. The staff is very passionate about their service, which I think drives many customers' return visits. They usually have some locally-made or maybe even home-made iced tea which is exactly what I need with a sandwich on those hot summer days... which I'm now anxious for. Fanastic Deli and one of the best in NJ!"

  • The best Deli I've ever been to. the energy, food, decor and staff are wonderful. When my parents come down from upstate they demand a stop here; I think they'd make the trip just for the deli."

  • grew up in Millburn and this was every kids dream place to eat over the weekend, only difference about this deli and others is that parents want to take their kids here.

The deli is tradition, whether it's a ritual you have with your sports team, Senior lunch or meeting up with people after the 10 year high school reunion this place is the essence of Millburn.

The average sandwich will run you about $7, but it's worth it.  After growing up in Millburn my whole life I still don't have "my" sandwich, and am always trying new ones.  My friends love the roast beef joes and if you get a Gobbler they honk the horn.   If you're nearby I don't think you will be disappointed.  Don't forget to try their homemade iced tea."

  • Great service, excellent sandwiches.  I went in for the first time last week.  Saw Corned Beef Reuben on the menuboard and chose that.  While waiting, I had more time to look over the extensive menu (and ready-made sandwiches), many of which look delicious and are quite huge.  I had the guy warm up for me a #10 (the Godfadda), and ended up taking two to go - great lunch, great leftovers.  Both sandwiches were excellent.  Definitely going back.  I highly recommend this deli."

  • The Millburn Deli has a cult-like following and for good reason. They are not just a great innovative deli with sandwiches called the Gobbler where you can get a thanksgiving dinner on rye and a horn tooted for  you everytime an order is placed for one, but they have hat Thursday, and a ton of promotions. I had won the rights to a signature sandwich for 6 months and had the privilege of building a SueAdler(dot)combo where we had such a blast promoting it. per sandwich went to a local charity and the deli would post on facebook " guess how many sueadler(dot) combos we sold this month and the winner gets a free sandwich.".  The Millburn Deli adds fun and a great personal experience to the great food experience.

  • had the godfather and it was amazing. For the price expecting a little more sandwich but still was good. godfather is a chicken cutlet sandwich with bacon and russian dressing. the hot press the sandwich which i also love."

  • One of the top deli's I have been to. They take the cake when it comes to sandwich combinations and selection (although I was disappointed that they didn't carry hot suppersatta).

Sandwiches are fresh (even though the popular ones are premade and just heated when ordered - that is the only way they can keep up with demand), quality ingredients, unique combinations that create a unique collage of flavor. Friendly service with employees that take pride in their sandwich making and are glad to help

The only downfalls of this place is that 1- it is a bit overpriced and 2- if you have a big appetite like me you might still be hungry after a sandwich. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could but in comparison with other delis I had to be fair and drop it down to 4 stars."

  • They are probably one of the most busiest deli's I've ever seen.  The place get's swamped and for very good reason. Their food is a 10, their prices are very reasonable, and they get you in and out quickly. I hate having to wait, and they are the fastest around.

Everything is fresh, and clean. You can tell all of their products they use are good. The store is also very clean."

  • It's the Willy Wonka factory of Sandwiches. Everything is fresh and delicious, but I prefer the Gobbler and the Soprano (with chipotle mayo). Staff is very friendly as well."

  • Every resident of the area (and out of the area)  swear by this place.  They think it's deli heaven!  The people really love making the sandwiches, and the meats are so fresh.  The Sloppy Joes and Gobbler sandwiches are just a few of their famous items~

I absolutely love the breakfast sandwiches, mainly the Western and the Bacon (or Taylored Ham) Egg and Cheese....

Come here, you won't regret it!

I only gave it 4 stars for the prices, but then again it is located in Millburn Short hills so....

This place truly is a jewel and is becoming a cult phenomenon almost! haha"

  • Wherever you are, this place is worth the drive.  Quality ingredients and friendly staff make for top-notch sandwiches.  If you're going for lunch, go early as this place is a mad house with the lunch rush."

  • I started coming here for their Ham Salad(only found 2 places in NNJ that carry it). HS, tomato and fresh mozzarella on rye, outstanding.
The staff is friendly, funny, and professional.
The Olive bread that they have made for their grilled sandwiched is without equal, hands down, the best bread.
as for the sloppy joe, I prefer Lakeside Deli in Verona.
Millburn Deli is always worth the trip.

  • Make your stomach happy!  People always think fondly of their hometown deli, but nobody thinks so fondly that they request sandwiches be shipped cross-country! The Millburn Deli does this regularly. Yes, the sandwiches are *that* good. Try their famous sloppy joes or go for one of their signature sandwiches like the "Urban Cowboy" or "Godfather." Guaranteed to satisfy and you'll be pondering ridiculous journeys in the future just for one of their sandwiches."

  • This place has one of the best atmospheres a deli can offer!

Friendly, fast, and fun employees work quickly to complete your order and are ready to please.

I ordered the shrimp salad sandwich which was incredible! Although it was a bit heavy, it was delectable! I also got a side of corn and tomato cherry salad.

Their home made iced teas was a little too sweet, but otherwise it was a great little local deli to have found!"

  • No, this is not the delicatessen to order corned beef at. This is the place to order a sandwich. This is the place to have an outer body, gastronomic experience. This is the place to salivate over the Soprano, to have an orgasm over the Gobbler and it is THE PLACE to order a sloppy Joe. Millburn is to sloppy joe's what Philly is to cheesesteaks.

If you are anywhere near here, get over and enjoy an incredible sandwich shop."

  • Unbelievable institution for the suburbs. Grew up frequenting this joint, and now take the kids.

Sandwiches are all generous, fresh and made to order. The deli is usually packed and uses the take-a-number system. I strongly suggest that you have your order fully decided as your number approaches. This is a fast-moving joint with a culture of its own. Don't get me wrong-no soup-nazi vibe here, just a crew of enthusiastic pros that like to keep things moving, with a smile.

If you can get a glimpse of the cold case through the crowd, try a side of one of their many cold salads. The bowtie salad with sundried tomatoes and mozz. is a favorite. The rice pudding's pretty damn good too. If you're local, the sandwich platters for entertaining are impressive-a big part of their revenue no doubt.

There is definately no shortage of sides to be had here either. There is a ridiculous selection of chips, cookies and candies to be had. NOT TO BE MISSED though is their own brewed and bottled iced tea. SO sweet and delish, always grab an extra jug for home.

One precaution though, it's easy to get out of hand here and you can rack up quite a bill here$$ with all your items! Not the cheapest sandwiches, but fresh, delicious and satisfying; and limitless options!

One last tip...Parking here can be a nightmare, as it is ALWAYS crowded. If the lot is full, and no parking out front, pass the deli, circle the park with the next right turn, and park on Main St. along the park. You can walk through the park and enter through the back of their lot. Be SURE to feed the meter though..or you will be ticketed. You will be thankful for the short walk back to the car, as you will definately leave there stuffed, and may even opt for a few laps around the beautiful park!"

  • GOOOOBBBLLEEEERRR! If you've been there, you know what I'm talking about. If not, order the "gobbler" sandwich and see what happens. My personal favorite though is the grilled chicken, roasted peppers, mozzarella and pesto mayo sandwich on a baguette (phew! what a mouthful. Pun intended). The pesto mayo spread is creamy and not overpowering. The mozzarella is fresh and sliced THICK. They use yellow and red roasted peppers, which make for a nice presentation. It might sound similar to the last sandwich from A&G, but Millburn Deli serves up food that is from more of a classic, Jewish deli. Meat and fixins' are piled sky high on these sandwiches. Plus, they tuck a nice fat slice of a dill pickle in the wrapper of your sandwich. As with Village Trattoria, the service here is great--always pleasant and welcoming."

  • Growing up in town, I was in love with "the deli".  The sandwiches are very original, made to order, fresh, and delicious.  Everything you try is good... sloppy joes, the gobbler, the godfather, salsalito sandwich, ray-jay, santa fe griller, griller 8, everything.  It's a little pricey though, and it definitely adds up when you often.  They have a really good selection of chips, including my favorite Route 11 dill pickle chips.  Their iced tea is overrated... it's just Lipton's with a ton of sugar, but I can't help but grab a giant bottle on my way out of there every time."

  • Been going there for the Gobbler + homemade iced tea + Cape Cod salt & vinegar chips for over 10 years.  It's the kind of deli that should exist in every small town in America.  Quaint, quick, good quality.. yes, not the cheapest around, but let's face it, it's situated in the middle of one of the wealthiest areas of the country.

I've seen some reviews that the staff is not friendly, but I've never really experienced that... I usually call in though, so my food is already made.

    Side note:
I've gotten probably 3 parking tickets leaving my car in the little lot next door with flashers on (the spots are often all taken)- so watch out- they must be hiding in the bushes...  My fault I guess..."

  • Sloppy Joes: for those who don't know: these are not the ground beef variety at ALL, were invented in South Orange, but perfected in Millburn."

  • My favorite Deli in N.J. What else is there to say"

  • Love this place the Gobbler i remember years ago haven't been there since high school ...went here when i worked at the local clearvies cinema...but that was the best deli ordered lunch here every day"

  • Now this is a deli! I had the Gobbler sandwich (turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce) and it is MASSIVE! The bread is super fresh, all of the ingredients are so fresh and the sandwich was super delicious.

While this sandwich was in the $10 range, it was so big, I ended up picking at it all afternoon and wasn't too hungry for dinner."

  • the godfather is the greatest sandwich ive ever eatenchicken bacon and russian is a combo that cant be wrongtry it out"

  • the best sandwiches my husband and i have had in a long time. They are very large and the ingredients they use are fresh. the flavors of the sandwiches are nicely paired. when you walk in, you get a feeling like you are in a cool place. there are so many choices of sandwhiches, sides and meals to go. we much go back to try more sandwiches...

there is a small parking lot next door and some outside seating but no indoor seating..."

  • Amazing sandwiches.  A frequent stop on visits home to mom & dad.  Always crowded, for the simple reason that their sandwiches are fresh, creative, and taste great.  Is it the thanksgiving turkey sandwich that causes staff to yell and ring the bell or somthing?  I just couldn't believe that people were ordering it on the day after thanksgiving!"

  • Like any good Jersey girl, I like my delis--and this is one of my favorites!
I tend to go for the sloppy joes, mostly because the rest of the country never makes them right and now when I'm home they're always at the top of my list of eats.  Millburn Deli's are monstrous, as they should be, the roast beef is perfectly rare, there's a good amount of cheese, cole slaw, and dressing.  When i get one of these, I'm in heaven for 2 days cuz i can only finish one half at a time.  Besides, the other half can ease the pain of enduring the Beltway on the way home :0)"

  • Best deli in north jersey. Friendly staff that know how to make amazing sandwiches. I've been going for year and will continue to go till the close the place down."

  • As soon as you walk into this place, you are struck by the energy level of the staff behind the counter, and the sheer amount of food crammed into the small space. It's a hole-in-the-wall with no table service, just take-out meals and catering.
There's lots of good-looking, pre-made sandwiches stacked up in the display cases--foccacia sandwiches, paninis, and Italian-style heroes. There's an appealing hot bar/carving station with freshly-roasted chicken, roast beef, meat loaf, mac & cheese, etc. Everything else is made to order, and the service is quick and friendly.
One star deduction because my "world-famous" sloppy joe was made with bought-in pastrami. or what seemed to be. It certainly did not compare to the real, steam-table homemade Jewish pastrami that i get at Goodman's in Berkeley Heights."

  • The best and freshest sandwiches in the area. Their "monster" sloppy joe sandwich is consistently delicious and never disappoints. Everything in here is made fresh and is wonderful. They have "grillers" which are basically panini style sandwiches with all different types of combo's inside.

The only reason this is a 4 star instead of a 5 star review is that you can not eat there, and sometimes on Saturday or Sunday it takes 25-30 minutes to get a sandwich. During the summer they do have some tables outside, but they are hard to get and when it is hot, I do not really find sitting in the sun an acceptable option to eat lunch

the people behind the counter are EXTREMELY fast and efficient. they have never gotten my order wrong, and after you navigate the line, your food comes out pretty quick.

They have almost every variety of sandwich you can want, and they make their own unique sandwiches. besides Sloppy joes which are the best I have ever had, try a Gobbler which is sliced turkey, hot stuffing, cranberry,  and lettuce on rye bread.

get there before 12 or after 1:30 to avoid lines, and be prepared to either go in the park to eat or bring it back to your house. but that car ride will be torture knowing you have that delicious sandwich just sitting there."

  • OMG great sandwiches!  I only wish they had a place to eat there cuz i dont live in the area anymore.  DELICIOUS!!!!!  The weirdesting thing is that they butter the bread of lots of their sandwiches but it turned out to be quite yummmy.  I recommend the Sloppy Joe (of the jewish variety).  But im still trying to figure out how they make their deli stuff better than everyone else?"

  • The variety of fresh and appealing foods to be found in the Millburn Deli is what jams the crowds in this suburban haven. I had a delish pastrami on rye sandwich and an unbelievable potato salad.  Though the sandwiches are stacked they are stingy with the pickles, giving me only two quarter sized slivers with my sandwich.  If I had known the pickle portion was so tiny, I would have gladly purchased several pickle spears.  The coffee is decent but the carrot cake I bought was a huge disappointment.  But that's okay, I don't expect to like everything made at a deli."

  • Millburn Deli, how I love thee!  Confession: I was raised on their deli platters, which were always present at family gatherings.  However, I am still a fan after all these years, and I have come to love some of the newer additions to the menu, such as the grillers.  Loyal customers keep coming back for their signature creations, such as the Gobbler and the Friday Special (which is a truly artery-clogging Big Mac-style combo of egg salad, tuna salad, and Russian dressing on rye), but in my opinion, the best thing they offer is the iced tea!  I don't know what they put in it, but it is incredibly delicious."

  • Picture yourself in a small deli packed with at least fifty people and staring at an endless selection of mouthwatering deli sandwiches with names like "The Godfather". My head was spinning at all the variety and quality in front of me as I waited for what jersey-dwellers term a "Sloppy Joe."

Being from the Boston area where nobody knows how to make a decent deli sandwich or bagel, and where a "sloppy joe" is drippy meat and tomato sauce served between two stale hamburger buns at a middle-school cafeteria, this place was another world for me...

In fact, a sloppy joe in jersey is your choice of deli meat, globs of cole slaw and russian dressing between two thin slices of bread. I don't know what it was, but the Millburn Deli served me the best deli sandwich that I've ever had. Next time I'll order the gobbler so that the animated friendly staff will ring a bell and yell it out. Great New Jersey deli with loads of personality."

  • I used to work in Millburn and would get sandwiches from here often...but not too often or I'd be fat!

The grilled sandwiches are very good. I forget off the top of my head the name of my favorite, but it had melted pepper jack cheese."

  • I haven't event thought about writing a review for stuff out of NY and then i thought of my favorite deli in the world...the Millburn Deli

You can't go wrong here. Amazing sandwiches, funny staff, and the ice tea. I have taken so many people visiting me here and they fall in love. They even join facebook groups just to show how great this place is.

They are famous for their Joes which is my favorite, or the Gobbler (just be careful when you order it or you are going to be in for a surprise from the staff), and the hot plates are good if they are still serving the hot food.

The ice tea is amazing..just dont ask how they actually make it. You just dont want to know but it is a def purchase.

Sure it can be a little pricey, but you must try it if for some reason you are in Millburn haha."

  • I certainly MUST question the fact as to HOW I could POSSIBLY be the very first person to give a review of the Millburn Deli..HOW????
I will lie to myself and say that the previous reviews must have been erased by some government experiment in the old IT dept. of the Pentagon that went bad! It just CAN"T be that I am the very 1st...I refuse to believe it.

Millburn Deli is famous for it's "stacked" sandwiches, as also seen in the 'Blondie' comic strip.
One of the most spoken of is the rye, ham, swiss, french dressing and kraut which even to people who can't fathom the idea, instantly find themsleves addicted too on the spot..no lie.
The Iced Tea is something that I have witnessed people come from all over--to buy, even  from out of state..it's ONE OF A KIND and you CANNOT come close to anything like it anywhere, or as far as I have seen so far."

  • "Millburn Deli is famous for it's "stacked" sandwiches, as also seen in the 'Blondie' comic strip."
It is true,i agree with you!"
